Even after dieting and exercise, many individuals end up with “problem areas” where deposits of fat have accumulated and stubbornly refuse to go away, such on the thighs or a love pouch on the abdomen. A non-invasive treatment called VASERShape Body Contouring can help eliminate problem areas, with no pain and no downtime. VASERShape was FDA-approved for spot fat reduction in 2010 and has been successfully and safely used to treat a large number of patients since then.
Ultrasound and Massage
There are two types of ultrasound devices available today for eliminating fat from problem areas. One type uses focused ultrasound energy to make fat cells explode. Focused ultrasound can be used to treat small deposits of fat. Unfortunately, focused ultrasound treatments can be quite painful. VASERShape uses the other type of ultrasound ? non-focused. Non-focused treatments cause fat to leak out of the cells. Non-focused treatments are ideal for contouring larger areas, such as the thighs, and as a bonus they cause skin tightening in the area. VASERShape can penetrate deeply into thick fat layers and affect all of the fat cells in a particular area. VASERShape can treat any part of the body, and is effective on all types of subcutaneous fat. Unfortunately, it is not effective to treat the intra-abdominal fat accumulation (“beer belly”) that affects many men.
What to Expect
Most patients may need four to ten sessions at weekly intervals to achieve the desired results. Depending on the size of the area being treated, each treatment session can take a few minutes to an hour. Most patients immediately experience skin tightening and a reduction in circumference of about half an inch. During the week after each session, the fat will continue to leak out of the treated area, contributing to an even greater loss of circumference. After four sessions, the average patient can lose 2-3 inches off the waist and 1 to 2 inches off the thighs. After 10 sessions, some patients may have lost up to 6 inches off their waist. Before each treatment, experts suggest consuming a lot of water, because being well-hydrated may improve the efficacy of the treatment.
