Cellulite is a common concern that affects many women. Regardless of body type and age, the condition affects approximately 80 to 90 percent of women at some point in their life. While the issue is commonly thought to be linked to exercise and diet, this is not the case. Rather, cellulite is genetic and is  caused by the fibrous bands that live in the fat layer. These bands pull down the skin and cause the dimpling effect that is cellulite.

Before QWO was around there were many quick fixes on the market that claimed to rid or reduce cellulite. From scrubs, to rollers and everything in-between, nothing proved to be effective at providing a real solution to a concern that many of us share. Thankfully, a new and revolutionary injectable treatment exists to fix cellulite: QWO.

QWO is an FDA-approved cellulite treatment that alleviates signs of cellulite from the skin. The treatment creates a smoother image, which can help boost your confidence in and out of a bikini! If you are a resident of Denver, CO, or surrounding communities and are ready to rid your skin of cellulite, please contact Vitahl Medical Aesthetics at 303-388-7380 or visit our contact page.

How Does QWO Work?

QWO is an injectable treatment that specifically targets cellulite. The injectable consists of an enzyme known as collagenases. These enzymes are thought to stimulate the growth of new collagen, redistribute fat cells and release connective tissues beneath the skin’s surface. Collagenases effectively target the underlying causes of cellulite.

Compared to other cellulite treatments, QWO is less invasive and requires less downtime. The injectable treatment is quite quick and painless. Other cellulite treatments involve surgically separating the connective tissues that are causing the dimpling of the skin or utilizing thermal energy from a laser. Instead of these means, QWO loosens connective tissues chemically.

QWO can treat cellulite on various parts of the body, most women experience it on the buttocks and the front and/or back of thighs. Wherever your dimples may be – we can treat them.

Who Is a Good Candidate for QWO?

You are a good candidate for QWO if you are a woman struggling with cellulite. The treatment is currently not FDA approved for men, but we recommend a consultation to determine eligibility if you are male.

The treatment should not be performed if you are allergic to collagenase. Additional contraindications that may keep you from being a suitable QWO candidate include being pregnant, currently nursing, or having a condition that can result in excessive bleeding. The treatment should also not be performed if you have an active infection in the treatment site.

During an initial consultation at Vitahl Medical Aesthetics, your cellulite condition will be examined to ensure candidacy. Your provider will examine the ares of concern to determine if the issue is explicitly related to cellulite or if it is a concern that is the result of skin laxity. QWO only treats cellulite, not skin laxity but at VITAHL, we provide a comprehensive treatment plan. We utilize treatments such as Secret RF, Opus and Flex alongside QWO for combination therapies that lead to the best result possible.

What to Expect From Your QWO Treatment

Your QWO treatment will begin with your provider identifying and marking which dimples will require injection. We then move on to a series of photos to document your journey.

Your injections will be administered via a small needle as you lie down comfortably, directly into your cellulite dimples.

Recovery After a QWO Treatment

After your QWO treatment, you will be able to return to normal activities immediately. The injectable treatment requires some downtime but is very manageable. You can expect to have tenderness for about 1 to 5 days post treatment. Bruising can occur as well and will last between 2 and 3 weeks after treatment but doesn’t leave the area sore. Patients may opt to take a homeopathic supplement called Arnica Montana a few days prior and after treatment to aid in reducing the downtime.

What Results Can I Expect From QWO?

QWO results vary from patient to patient, but approximately after 10 weeks, you will start to notice results. The treatment area will be visibly smoother, and the appearance of cellulite will be reduced. However, attaining optimal results will require a series of QWO treatment sessions. With a series of treatments, QWO can improve cellulite by 2 grades of severity. This means the more dimples, the more treatments needed for visible results. We recommend a series of 3-6 treatments, spaced 3 weeks apart.

How long QWO results last is still not yet entirely known. Since the treatment has only recently been approved, there have not been enough studies or testimonials about the lasting effects of QWO. However, new information will become available in the near future, allowing your provider to give you an accurate estimate about how long your results could potentially last.
