Most dermal fillers on the market are created to add immediate volume over a short period of time. At Vitahl Aesthetics, we offer Sculptra® for men and women who want to correct their signs of aging gradually with long-lasting results and no recovery or downtime.
Serving the Denver area in Colorado, Vitahl Medical Aesthetics is led by Dr. Tahl Humes. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and find out how Sculptra® can create subtle enhancements to aging skin over a period of time for results that last.
When it comes to skin rejuvenation, there are several dermal filler options on the cosmetic market, but Sculptra® stands apart. It is formulated with poly-L-lactic acid in a smooth, flexible gel that can replace the lost collagen in the skin that causes shallow lines, wrinkles, and folds.
Other dermal fillers can help provide a fast, “quick fix” solution for patients who are looking for immediate results, but Sculptra® offers a more gradual alternative. When administered as a series of about three injections over the course of a few months, Sculptra® can create visible correction for up to two years with optimal treatment.
In addition to providing long-lasting correction and natural-looking results, Sculptra® provides multiple other advantages for patients, including:
Immediately after treatment, patients commonly experience slight bruising, redness, swelling or itching at injection sites, which should only last for the first day or so. Most patients tolerate the injections well with no major complications, but any relevant safety information will be discussed with you during your consultation with Dr. Humes and our medical team. Most patients begin to experience visible results a few weeks after the first treatment and continue to see gradual improvements for several months, but results may vary.
Based on your individual condition and aesthetic goals, Dr. Humes and our medical team will discuss several factors with you such as your health, medical history, aesthetic goals and treatment expectations in order to determine if Sculptra® is the best course of treatment for you.

Sculptra® is a synthetic injectable material known as “poly-L-lactic acid.” Poly-L-lactic acid is biocompatible (a material that does not harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body). Poly-L-lactic acid has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants, and other types of implants. Sculptra® stimulates collagen growth in the areas it is injected.
Sculptra® is used to treat skin laxity and lipoatrophy in the face. As we age, we loose volume in our faces, Sculptra® can help restore this volume.
Treatments usually take 30 to 60 minutes. What should I expect after the treatment and is there down time? Immediately after the treatment, you will see some swelling due to the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra®. As with any injection, you may have bruising from the treatment.
Some people start to see results within weeks after the first treatment, with maximal results noticed 6 months after you have completed your treatments.
We recommend a minimum of 3 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart.
Treatment results may vary for each person. In clinical studies, treatment results lasted up to two years. Touch up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.
We recommend avoiding aspirin, ibuprofen, excessive alcohol, flax seed oil, fish oil, and vitamin E prior to your treatments. These products may increase the likelihood of bleeding and bruising. You may consider taking Arnica Montana, which has been shown to help reduce the likelihood of bleeding or bruising. Arnica Montana can be purchased over-the-counter where herbal products are sold.
