Although visible signs of aging commonly develop around the eyes, nose, and mouth as a result of collagen loss, the cheeks also experience aging in the form of volume loss. This can result in a sunken or hollow appearance, but at VITAHL Medical Aesthetics, we offer Juvederm Voluma® to restore shape and volume to the midface without surgery or downtime. We were one of the first offices in the country to offer this safe and effective dermal filler and we continue to be a leading provider in the Denver area.
A trusted name in skin rejuvenation, Juvederm® products contain some of the most effective concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the aesthetic market. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body and binds with water to retain the shape and volume of your skin. Voluma® is the first dermal filler that is FDA-approved to target volume loss in the cheeks, and like other dermal fillers is administered underneath the skin with a fine needle.
For patients who qualify for treatment, this injectable can have many advantages:
As with any injectable treatment, slight redness, swelling, and bruising may occur. This product contains lidocaine to improve comfort during your procedure and can help significantly reduce any post-treatment soreness. These minor side effects are temporary and should subside within the first day or so. While Voluma® is safe for a wide range of both men and women of varying skin types, factors such as your health, medical history, treatment expectations, and aesthetic goals will be discussed during your consultation to help you determine if this injectable is the best course of treatment for you. Any additional safety information will be shared with you prior to treatment.
Voluma is the first and only FDA-approved injectable gel to instantly add volume to your cheek area to correct age-related volume loss. It gives you a subtle lift, helping to restore a more youthful contour and profile and can last up to 2 years with optimal initial correction. Voluma is different from other hyaluronic acids, and it signals a paradigm shift in the way we perceive facial aging. The focus has shifted from using fillers like Juvederm to correct specific lines and wrinkles to using use fillers like Voluma to address the 3-dimensional, age-related loss of volume in the cheeks and midface to recreate the facial contours of youth.
Adults of any age who notice changes to their mid-face or at the chin or jaw line may be considered good candidates for treatment with Voluma. Typical early signs of aging may include a visible decrease in volume, a sagging of the cheeks or the loss of noticeable contour around the chin. While these are more commonly problems that people face as they age, younger men and women may experience them as well due to weight loss, heredity or a number of other factors.
Voluma injections typically take about 30 to 45 minutes to administer in the doctor's office. The gel formula contains lidocaine to minimize discomfort, so there is no need for additional anesthesia. The injection is designed to reach the deep layers beneath the skin?s surface to provide the most benefit.
There is very little or no downtime following a treatment with Voluma. Most patients can resume all of their typical daily activities right away after their treatment session. If bruising does occur, it can last several weeks, but it can be covered with makeup.
The results are visible immediately after the procedure.
Voluma is FDA approved to last 2 years when a patient is treated with the proper amount of Voluma.
While Voluma is considered a safe form of treatment, all injectable dermal fillers are associated with some risk of side effects. The most commonly occurring side effects that may result from Voluma treatment include swelling, tenderness, formation of a lump, firmness to the skin, bruising, redness, itching, discoloration or pain at the injection site. When these arise, they are generally mild to moderate and resolve within a few weeks.
Initial Voluma treatments are usually complete in one or two sessions, as needed. Each session, on average, will contain 1-4 syringes. The number of syringes depends upon area of concern and anatomy, both of which are placed into consideration during your consultation. Depending on your individual body chemistry, you will work with your medical professional to determine a maintenance schedule. Talk to a professional at VITAHL about your individual needs.
