Breathe New Life Into Your Skin

Chemical peels are some of the least invasive skin rejuvenation options on the cosmetic market, and at VITAHL Medical Aesthetics, we offer a wide range of peels to help address your visible signs of aging and other cosmetic concerns.

What Are Chemical Peels?

As we age, the natural processes that keep our skin smooth and supple begin to slow down. This can lead to a buildup of dead skin cells, decreased collagen production, and reduced cellular turnover, resulting in a complexion that looks dull or tired. Chemical peels are an effective way to address these issues and restore your skin’s youthful, vibrant glow.

During a chemical peel, a specially-formulated solution is applied to the face or body, effectively removing damaged skin cells and revealing a new, healthy layer of skin below. Chemical peels can also promote collagen production and improve the overall texture and tone of the skin, leaving you with a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance.

Types of Chemical Peels

The medicated solutions used in chemical peels typically consist of different types of acids, such as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or phenol. However, the strength and type of peels recommended by our medical team often depend on your unique skin care needs. At VITAHL, we offer 2 different types of peels: Superficial and Medium-Depth.

Superficial Peels

Light or superficial peels use a gentler solution typically made up of AHAs like glycolic acid or salicylic acid. These peels remove just the top outer layer of skin to refresh your appearance and target concerns like fine lines, uneven skin tone, dryness, and acne. Light peels are ideal for those with mild concerns or as a maintenance treatment following a deeper peel.

Medium-Depth Peels

Medium-Depth peels use a stronger solution to penetrate deeper into the outer and middle layers of the skin, providing more dramatic results and targeting concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, acne, scarring, texture, and pigmentation. Typically, medium peels use TCA, sometimes in combination with glycolic, to deliver a moderately intensive treatment. Unlike light peels, this strength may cause noticeable peeling, flaking, and redness that resolves within 5 to 7 days.

Chemical Peels Offered at VITAHL

Glycolic Peel

This superficial peel is a great way to exfoliate the face and keep your skin feeling refreshed. Glycolic peels can be performed weekly and the results can be easily maintained with regular touch-ups and a good skin care regimen. Glycolic peels target mild acne, clogged pores, uneven skin tone, and brown spots. Combining Glycolic peel with other rejuvenation treatments, such as a Dermaplane or Laser Genesis, will help you achieve even more optimal results.

VI Peel And VI Peel Precision Plus

The VI Peel uses a blend of powerful ingredients like salicylic acid, TCA, retinoic acid, phenol, and vitamin C to penetrate deep into the skin and address a variety of concerns. This medium-depth peel is a great option for first-time peel as it is great for all age groups and skin types including sensitive skin. The VI Peel benefits include improved texture, tone, radiance, and tighter-looking skin. This peel can be applied to various areas of the body including the face, neck, chest, hands, and back.

The VI Peel Precision Plus is an advanced version of the VI Peel. It uses many of the same ingredients, but in higher concentrations and with the addition of hydroquinone to specifically target hyperpigmentation, sun damage, melasma, and other pigment irregularities. The VI Peel Precision Plus promotes rapid cell turnover to improve skin tone and softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Considered by many to be the next generation of chemical peels, the VI Peel and VI Peel Precision Plus can treat a variety of common concerns and are safe for all skin types. These medium-depth peels may be the noninvasive skin care solution you’ve been looking for to restore your skin’s radiance!

iS Clinical Prodigy Peels – P2 And P3

The iS Clinical Prodigy Peel Systems are powerful yet elegant. Because of its innovative formulation design, these chemical peels produce the same great results but with less downtime compared to other chemical peels on the market.

The Prodigy Peel “P2” System is smoothing, rejuvenating, and preventative. This superficial chemical peel combines Resorcinol, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, and Salicylic Acid with a powerful “booster” to provide enhanced benefits compared to other superficial chemical peels. P2 provides advanced exfoliation benefits and targets multiple skin concerns including acne, pigmentation, and mild to moderate aging.

The Prodigy Peel Pro “P3” System is resurfacing, clarifying, and brightening. The medium-depth chemical peel features an advanced form of Salicylic Acid resulting in a brighter and more youthful complexion. P3 targets skin laxity, uneven skin texture, hyperpigmentation, blemish-prone skin, fine lines, and wrinkles – visibly improving imperfections resulting in a renewed complexion.

Discover the Many Benefits of Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are an effective way to eliminate the damaged outer layer of skin and refresh your overall appearance. They are highly versatile and come in various strengths that can be used to treat a number of common skincare concerns, such as:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Roughness
  • Age spots
  • Enlarged pores
  • Blemishes and acne scars
  • Dull, tired-looking complexion

During your consultation, our medical experts will evaluate your concerns and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your exact needs. This includes determining the right type of peel and solution strength for bringing out the best in your complexion.

However, it’s important to know that some concerns — like deep acne scars or more significant signs of aging — might respond better to laser treatments, dermal fillers, or radiofrequency microneedling for the best possible results. Our team can help you explore your options and find the right approach for achieving your skin care goals.

What to Expect During Your Chemical Peel Treatment at VITAHL, Denver’s Top Med Spa

During your chemical peel, our aesthetic experts will first evaluate your skin to determine the correct peel type for achieving your desired results. Then, they will cleanse and prep your skin to remove any makeup, oil, and debris that may interfere with the treatment.

Once your skin is clean, your provider will apply the chemical peel solution evenly to your skin. Many peels are applied in layers and left to sit for a short amount of time as they absorb. You may notice a burning or tingling sensation as the solution penetrates the skin, but this is normal and indicates that the peel is working. If it ever becomes too intense, the peel can be neutralized to stop the treatment process.

The length of time that the solution is left on your skin will depend on the type and strength of the peel. Once it has been neutralized, treated areas may appear red and flaky. We will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to help your skin heal and recover properly.

Chemical Peel Recovery & Results

Your chemical peel recovery will depend on the strength of the solution used. Light peels are often referred to as a “lunchtime procedure” and usually require little to no downtime. In contrast, medium-depth peels may cause mild peeling, flaking redness, and increased sensitivity in treated areas. These side effects are a normal part of the recovery process and typically resolve within a week or two. It’s important to allow the skin to heal naturally and resist the urge to pick at the skin, as this can lead to scarring.

The results of your chemical peel also vary depending on the type and strength of the solution used, as well as your individual concerns. However, most people notice a significant improvement in the overall texture, tone, and appearance of their skin shortly after a series of treatments. These results continue to develop as damaged skin cells peel away to reveal a noticeably smoother, healthier, and more youthful complexion that waits just below the surface.

Superficial or light peels usually provide moderate results that last a few weeks, while medium-depth peels deliver more dramatic improvements that can last for several months or years. Practicing proper sun protection and using high-quality skin care products will help prolong the effects of treatment so you can enjoy a more radiant complexion year-round.
